Clear Aligners Q&A

What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners straighten your teeth without metal, so they’re a great braces alternative. At Global Facial Aesthetics, the trusted dental professionals use ClearCorrect®, an almost invisible aligner system that can shift every tooth into its ideal position.

How do clear aligners work?

After intraoral scanning to get a 3-D impression of your teeth, the on-site dental lab creates a group of removable clear aligners. These polyurethane resin aligners are flexible but very strong. Your first set of aligners fit your teeth in their current positions, and those aligners gradually move your teeth over the next two weeks.

After the initial set of aligners, you’ll start wearing a new set. Each aligner set shifts your teeth about 0.3 mm, and you change the aligners out at the prescribed intervals until they eventually become completely straight.

You’ll visit Global Facial Aesthetics around every 6-8 weeks for a progress check and any necessary adjustments.

How often do I need to wear my clear aligners?

Always remove your clear aligners when you eat and for routine dental hygiene like brushing and flossing. You can also remove your aligners for sports and special events. On average, you should wear your ClearCorrect aligners for 22 hours a day.

How long does teeth straightening with clear aligners take?

It depends on your particular needs. Your Global Facial Aesthetics specialists can give you an estimated total treatment time before you start. In general, clear aligners take about the same amount of time as metal braces, possibly less.

Who is a good candidate for clear aligners?

Global Facial Aesthetics recommends clear aligners only for people who can self-monitor when it comes to aligner wear and care. Many younger children aren’t quite responsible enough to look after aligners, and they may not be consistent with wearing them properly, either.

Generally, an optimal candidate is a tween, teen, or adult who wants to straighten their teeth while avoiding metal braces. As long as you’re dedicated to proper care and use, you can expect excellent results from clear aligners.
